The Hx Outdoors Bastard Halibut is a very interesting compact pocket knife. It`s a slipjoint folder but you can convert it into a "fixed blade" by locking the blade with the provided torx tool. So I guess it`s a UK legal design which you can lock by a little secret tweak if needed. I`ll review it soon. :)

  1. I love very much my clone of the ZT0850... but I find the thumbstuds to be a bit "sharp"... If I play too much with it (tempting since it's very smooth), I end up with a sore thumb!
Regarding the HX-outdoors, it's very (very) inspired by the CRKT 6530 designed by Liong Mah which I have, and has exactly the same clever system but a slightly different blade shape...

    1. I noticed the same at my ZT0850 copy. I`ll give it a sandpaper treatment sooner or later. :)

That CRKT also looks fine. I wish they made it with a better steel. I suppose the Hx Outdoors has the advantage blade steel & price wise.

    2. Yeah.
I think I'll end up buying the HX outdoors for comparison/back-up purposes. I usually take the CRKT with me when going to Good Ole England where knives are very much frowned upon by the constables if they have a lock or long blades...
