Review: exquisite Zero Tolerance ZT0808 style folder

Stunning design
- perfect fit and finish in every detail
- titanium frame lock with steel insert and hidden lockbar limiter
- solid early lock-up
- excellent flipping action thanks to the ball bearing pivot system
- perfectly centered blade with satin and light stonewashed finish (on the flats)
- stylish stonewashed titanium handle with mirror polished screws and backspacer
- compact size for every day carry

- I'd prefer a deep carry titanium pocket clip

Blade thickness: 0.157" (4 mm)
Blade steel: D2 Stainless Steel (59-61 HRC)

You can buy the titanium version of the ZT0808 on Aliexpress: ***HERE***
Budget edition with steel handle: ***HERE****
(updated links)

Because of a stupid rule of Aliexpress the sellers are forced to photoshop the locking mechanism on the folders. So don't worry these folders come with solid frame-locks!

Nice dual tone finish on the blade:
The cut outs make the unlocking comfortable:

If you like the ZT0808 I also recommend its big brother
 the ZT0801 (full review here):
You can buy the ZT0801 on Aliexpress:

  1. Very nice knife, indeed.
On my, other than the clip, the one thing that wasn't perfect was the edge of the lower part of the scale at the point where it separates from the lock bar. From the looks of yours on the last pic (and what I've heard from others) that seems a general "issue": when the knife is open and you hold it tight, you might feel a sort of a hot spot there. But using a sharpening tool to blunt that edge does work wonders and helps immensely.

Regarding deep/shallow carry, I'm really with you. It seems that many of the owners of the genuine ZT version have the same issue and you can find replacement clips on eBay that solve the problem (the clip doesn't go down from the screws like on the OEM clip, but first up then turns down, so the knife rides about 2cm lower, a rather deep carry). My only concerns are: 1° they cost about $25 PLUS shipping... a not negligible amount for a $60 knife, and 2° that might not be exactly compatible with our clones...

So I'm waiting for news. And using other knives when I want deep carry!

By the way, have you seen the new Spyderco Slysz Bowie clones ? I couldn't resist and ordered one! They also have the Techno (also from Slysz) but I prefer "full size" knives.... at least for the moment!

    1. I haven't noticed that hot spot till you mentioned it. I only feel that edge on the handle when I deliberately rub my finger against it which is not likely in real world use atleast for me. :)

I think I can live without those custom deep carry pocket clips. It's easier to remove the knife out of the pocket with the standard one. :)

I also have a Slysz Bowie in the mail! :) I'm curious about the smoothness of opening with normal bronze washers. I think I'll skip the Techno this time, maybe next year.

    2. Sure, it's not a very often felt spot, but at one time when playing and fondling the knife I felt it... so hop, I modded it ;) and let you know!
As for the Slysz, yeah, me too, I'm curious about the smoothness. I have a number of clones with such things and in general they are rather smooth (particularly my small sebbie... but it's a Kevin John, might be why) but there is room for improvement with some of them...
Given my track record, I'm sure you'll get the Slysz bowie a few days before me, so let me know when you have it!

  2. order both ZT0801 & ZT0808 on the 11.11 sale event
    I should stop reading some forums/blogs :)

    1. Which version of the ZT0801 did you order?

      Resistance is futile! :))

when ordering the ZT0808 a flux of gravitation hit my index finger just on top of the ZT0801 order button
      Yes, resistance is futile ;)

    3. I also know that feeling! :))
The grey bead blasted version is the best base for modding too. I'm planning to pimp the handle of mine with DIY electro anodisation.

    4. That will be interesting to follow, please update with your outcome or findings

  3. Next deep breath
CKF Sukhoi 2.0 Black Friday offer at
    Jim Skelton review

    1. Those discount prices are really tempting for those CKF folders. I think even their normal prices are reasonable compared to some over hyped knife companies.

The Sukhoi is a very stylish folder but I still look forward to the CKF Sablya. :)

  4. the сабля with added tritium insert looks awesome

  5. From wikipedia "The oldest well-documented "sabres" are those found in 9th and 10th century graves of Magyars (Hungarians) who entered the Carpathian Basin at this time"

Time to claim a heritage ?

    1. Maybe that's why I'm attracted to it! :))

    3. Nice one, thanks!
I hope Santa also reads my blog. :))

    4. incredible work for a semi-production knife :)

  6. I'll sure keep an eye on these.
The Gratch at $250 was tempting, very tempting.
But having the Nadeau Typhoon and the Spydie Slysz in the mail, I said to myself: "stop"!!!
If a clone of the сабля ever appears, or one of the Sukhoi or better yet the Gratch, comes to the market, I'll most certainly jump on them. Until then... I'll be "reasonable". At least a little.

    1. I missed the Gratch by a hair
They will be back in ½ a year
I called support, they didn't see what was coming out of the Black Friday
Well, well ... more money for the wave of new Chinese quality knives :)
      Clones and originals

    2. As I see the Sukhois are sold out too.

    3. I managed to order a Sukhoi
The info on phone was that the Gratch will be back in ½ a year
