  1. Wow, those CH knives come with a really great anodization.
Esp. the blueish and the bronze ones tickle my eyes.
But seriously, is it only me or is that CH3504's pivot looking like a legalized swastika? Just add a Phillips recess and you get your buddhist sympol (of the end).

    1. I added the bronze ones to my wish list. In this compact size they could be quite pocket / EDC friendly and street legal too. I can't see the swastika in the pivot.

    2. IMO it's closer to the "endless knot" symbol.

    3. Maybe I only see it because we had a class at school long ago about "hidden" symbols or how the bald headed bomber jacket guys like to wear that stuff legally. A logo like thisone, or 3 sevens in a circle, all such things ;)
I have no problems with it, it was rather funny to see so many swastikas in Thailand and Japan and even more the shocked reactions from some Europeans, esp. Germans ;)

    4. The keen eye for Nazi symbolism and anything looking alike is, of course, a very German thing (as it is very Nazi thing to go on "borrowing" symbols, catchphrases, brand names or whole topics of a certain variety and so on that could easily be associated with established Nazi symbols or with what Nazis deem common knowledge or that can somehow else further their cause). And, of course, also the well established Nazi symbols were, for the most part, not invented by the Nazis, but just taken from wherever and abused (some of them maybe modified one way or another). So, what you observed is ... kind of ... to be expected and very plausible. But I'm digressing. Sorry for going all political and stuff.

The anodised colours (step 3) on the blackened (step 1) and then stonewashed (step 2) handles look indeed stunning -- I thought the same thing right away and, well, I'm pretty sure that is how it's done (although I don't know how the black surface is achieved on titanium ... how?).

(PS: If this post comes twice -- I messed up logging in once before. Feel free to delete the former post)

  2. Aus-8? I think I'll pass. They could have used D2 or something similar.

    1. Aus-8 is a bit softer (so easier to re-sharpen without proper instruments, diamonds and all, but not so much that it can't hold an edge) but waaay more corrosion resistant. So for daily carry in many regions of the world, it makes better sense...

  3. I've seen some of these a few days ago... And couldn't resist the "rhino mini friction folder"... The CH3504 in bronze/purple might follow soon, too.

    1. It would be interesting to compare that "mini rhino" to a Bean cleaver. :)

    2. Sad thing is, I have a "standard" bean, and have a dual grind one in the mail, no cleaver, though. However I also have a clone of the curtis dog tag razel, that will do for comparison, I guess :D

    3. Ok, those will also do. :)
      Do you like the Curtiss?

    4. Not sure, it isn't there yet... sadly, it's with the 9103, somewhere between China and France, just shipped this Friday!
I'll sure tell you, maybe even do a "mini knives shoot-out" as I now start to have quite a few!

    5. That Curtiss ODT looks quite appealing like some sort of jewelry although I'm not sure about its real life usefulness. Anyway collecting knives is not about common sense. :))

  4. Here are some pics of the Zieba skyline clone... Sure enough it's not the same as the G10 version, but hey, might give ideas !

    1. Yeah, right. It might give the idea that I need the Ti version.
My wallet says G10 or nothing :P

    2. Was about to buy the G10 Zieba yesterday.
Glad I waited a bit, now they have a steel frame lock version that I prefer.

    3. Which color did you go for?

      Delete
    4. Didn't order yet but I'll go for the darker one, I like this antique color.
The only thing I don't like is the fact that the pocket clip is not the same color as the rest of the knife :(
I might wait a bit and see if they change that. If not, I'll order it anyway.

  5. Among other "YJ Andy" models, there can be found two on DHgate that are actually real knives (albeit in the rather smallish neon size range) and they look really interesting. One is called 701, the other 703/703s. All of them are 120 USD or a bit less for ti handles and S35VN blades (or so they say).

I have yet to see one in real life, but if they come close to what the pictures suggest, they are well worth their price (even double or a bit more, although I wouldn't buy them then, well, not from whoknowswho on DHg at least).

    What the sellers' pictures show:
    # Crazy milling work
    # Semi-integral ti handle (back spacer is part of one of the handle slabs)
    # Somme threads cut directly into one of the handle slabs (meaning, there is a no-screw-heads-side -> model 703 and 703s)
    # Ball bearings with actual grooves (it could actually take radial loads ... in theory)
    # Stupid custom (well, kind of) screw heads, but at least they chose matching screw heads (2 and 3 hole) for all the screws
    # Overall design (I mean looks/style, not technical design/engineering) could be a bit plainer for me, but oh well ... taste

    1. Dicoria has started to sell those YJ Andy 701, 703, 703s models on Aliexpress HERE.

That pivot system and "backspacer" milling are really innovative.
