  1. Wow! the price of some of these box cutters is nuts for just a piece of machined Ti without any blade!
If I would be in the market for a stylish box cutter, I think something like this would do me just fine:

I like the mini Troodon, would make a nice key chain knife or mail opener, however trying to get those into Canada often results in Customs keeping them :(

    1. Those box-cutters use regular replaceable blades I suppose. Expensive stuffs for sure.

I like the Y-Start version of the Bean with the proper titanium frame-lock and that
titanium friction folder with the straight razor style blade (the 1st one).

    2. Same with me, I like these two too. Thank you for the compilation. By the way, some of them are available from GearBest too.

    3. That first friction folder is quite interesting. The blade isn't too small, so that might be actually usable for more than simply opening letters and cutting small strings... Ordered one!!

That last box cutter you show, is on GearBest for quite a bit less than the AE price, too.

  2. I like that keychain auto, I just don't know about the quality of these.
Anyone ever tried them? I'm a bit concerned about rattling and misfiring and well, otf is not really legala round here :P

  3. That Vosofferyn Fric Bric clone is very interesting, especially given that the original hasn't even shipped! :) The most curious part will be whether it has the original's detent ball setup and bottle opener end. The photos don't show anything.

Otherwise, bearings with no lock or retention mechanism means the blade will swing free any time -- especially in your pocket! A friction folder needs washers tightened down so the blade can't open as a result of gravity.

I've ordered one and will let you know when I get it.

    1. Thanks for the info! That spring loaded detent ball trick is quite interesting at the original. Is the original bigger?

    2. Not sure about size.

ETang says theirs has a bottle opener!

So I am very curious to see if it has the detent too. I asked them to confirm it has bearings (first they said no, then they said yes) so then I asked how the blade stays shut. :)

    3. I asked for more pics and they sent me the one I linked in this post. It has the same bottle opener feature as the original.

  4. Hah! He didn't know what the bottle opener was for until I linked him to the Kickstarter page two days ago!

So, very interesting. Mine is in transit. Will def send a review/report.
