New high-end titanium folders and knives on Aliexpress part 22

New in 2017
Kevin John Venom 4 "Wing" integral titanium frame-lock flipper

One piece integral titanium handle:

Because of a stupid rule of Aliexpress the sellers are forced to photoshop the locking mechanism and the "blood grooves" on the folders. So don't worry these folders come with a lock!

  1. OMG the prices! I don't even see too much differences with the $60 and the $370 F95... But the F7 is a real beauty.

    1. First they exceeded the $200 barrier and now they're about to reach the $400 one.
I have to find a better paying job! :))

    2. The prices appear to be a result from this specific retailer having to buy them from Tobao, a wholesaler, and then sell them on Aliexpress. They're basically adding a middle man to the equation and the cost is getting put on the consumer. If someone sold these direct, they would definitely be cheaper.

The F7, however, looks like it could easily be worth the money. The machining is insane.

  2. I had to pick up one of those Rike's, at that price it's a no brainer. It does annoy me that Rike tries to charge $300+ on the US market for their knives, but will sell them to Chinese retailers for so little that $135 is profitable.

Then again, the relationship between Dicoria and Rike seems to go back a long time, as Dicoria will occasionally have models from Rike like the 1505, or the Armorhide (which is sold as an integral model in the us as the Thor 3). I'm also pretty sure Rike has made some clones for Dicoria (the Adai 95 with CF inlays) but that's just a personal theory...

    1. Which color did you go for? I can't decide between the grey and the blue.

I have a "Light Cavalry" RK1501. Probably that was their first folder which appeared on Ali and that was the first time I ever heard about them too. :)
That might have been some sort of prototype because after a couple of months they came out with a more refined version with a steeper price tag.

    2. Same here.
Had to buy one, at that price that was impossible not to. I went for the "blue purple" even if the grey was tempting too (it looks a bit light champagne, but not sure it's not just an impression from the picture and I wanted one of their nice anodisations).
Just like Isti I have one of those "light Cavalry" which were probably prototypes. I like it even if it's not absolutely as smooth as it could have been.

    3. Talking about Rike, I recently received a RK1502 that I got from DHG. One this is strange and bothering me though, On the selle's pics and most of the pics that I find about this knife, the matkings show the Rike Logo, Rike Knife and RK1502. One mine though, there is no logo and there is the markings "Fail to show restraint" in between Rike Knife and RK1502.
Anyone knows what's up with that?

    4. I'm not an anodizing guy so I went with grey.

Rike as a whole seems very split between selling cheaper knives to Russia (the main consumer of Aliexpress) and trying to sell higher end versions to America. If more American consumers were aware that the 1508-2, which has the same materials and machining complexity as something like the 1504, I think they would feel ripped off. If they sold the 1508-2 at American retailers for $135, they would sell like crazy.

    5. @Bruno F

That was their old slogan, which thankfully they dumped. Those 1502's are old stock from what I can tell.

    6. @Misanthropia
Thanks, I was a bit unsure.
I wish the seller on DHG would have put the real picture though, he put the picture of the newer version and I received the old one.

    7. @Franz @Misanthropia At the moment I'm leaning towards the grey version. A slight champagne tint would make it a bit fancier. :)

    8. Seems, after looking at the knife at different sellers and places on the net, that the grey is indeed grey and not lightly champagne anodised...
Well, anyway, they've already shipped my Blue version. So much quicker than the KUR!

  3. Whoa, we're talking some seriously expensive knives here. I'd love to see a Green Thorn F7 in D2 for $100, but I have yet to buy a $400 knife. Maybe that's just me, but I was shocked at the prices.

    1. A budget friendly version of that Green Thorn F7 would be great for sure! :)

  4. The integral Kevin John and the F7 are the dope. But my, they're quite expensive! I've waited for a long time before going to the Venom II as the 180/190/200$ price tag for a Chinese knife from AE was feeling steep. I love it, but I don't know if I'm ready to jump to the 300$ level.

On a cheaper/lighter note, I've eventually received my KUR and it's really nice. The black works very well with the matte grey of titanium and stonewashed blade. Only negative, the pocket clip moves a bit for side to side. Seems secure enough, though.

    1. The pocket clip on my KUR is more flexible side ways than the one on my Slysz Bowie. As I know the pocket clip of the KUR is made of titanium so that might be the reason otherwise the base of the pocket clip is securely fixed on mine.

    2. I guess that explains it.
Mine secure, too, just twitching to one side or the other. Well, not that big a problem!

  5. Like everyone else, I was kinda shocked at those prices.
I have absolutely no doubt that those are of great quality but at those prices, there is much more to think about.
It's one thing buying a great quality knife with Titanium and S35VN for 100 bucks, it's a no brainer. At almost 400 bucks for a clone or a "no name", so to speak, manufacturer, one has to think quite a bit more. There are a lot of great offerings from reputable manufacturers in this price range.

  6. And being super weak, and a sucker for s35vn, I also ordered a Pachenko Bean clone, in blue...

    1. Although it's a small knife, in the $30 range, I'm doubting it's S35VN.
      Cute key chain blade nonetheless.

  7. I'm still trying to resist those two folders (the RK1508-2 and the Bean). :)

There is a new contender in the $400+ category: Microtech ANAX copy with integral titanium handle and M390 blade.

  8. The shocking thing I've just realised, the Maxace Dwemer Assassin is sold for $290 at BladeCenter vs $320 on AliExpress... Sure, on one side you pay for shipping and not on the other, but you still come out ten or so dollars on top of it if you go BladeCenter!! Plus you've got more variants available.
Still too expensive for me, but I didn't really expect the difference to be that way!
