Shirogorov Neon UltraLite style titanium frame-lock flipper
with D2 blade and ceramic ball bearings:
Thanks to the milled handlesit weights only 2.9 oz (83 g):

Because of a stupid rule of Aliexpress the sellers are forced to photoshop the locking mechanism and the "blood grooves" on the folders. So don't worry these folders come with a lock!

  1. I already have a Neon, an Inkosi, two Poluchetkiy (one good, one budget with jade G10) but the KUR got me interested, and the UK pen knife... Well I've just ordered it, as I often go to England and at the moment only have the choice between the (gen) Spydie Pingo.. and a SAK.
By the way, I'm very sad... As a big snowstorm is upon us, the post didn't deliver packages today, therefore I didn't get my 940 (but I know it is in my city, so Monday).

    1. How do you like your G10 Poluchetkiy? I also have the titanium version but this steel handle version with the nice stone washed finish seems appealing too.

I have the black version of the UK Penknife copy. It feels great holding it in the hand as you suppose from a Spyderco design and its spring is quite strong too.

At least you know you'll get a pretty good folder on Monday. :)

    2. Yep, Monday should be happy day!
The G10 Poluchetkiy is great (jade G10 is lovely), super smooth, sharp, the blade centring is very good. It's a tad heavy and might feel a bit rougher than the "regular Ti" one, but really a very very decent carry!
By the way, re-reading my previous message, it doesn't really say it but I ordered a KUR, too!

    3. How much does the G10 Poluchetkiy weight? I thought it was lighter than the Ti version.

      I couldn't resist either and I ordered a KUR in OD. :)

    4. Mine is 132.3g (don't ask me for the Ti version, it's deeper in the box ;) ).
it's very snappy, too, authoritative when it flips open... You've made me take it on me instead of the "Chav" that I was carrying these last days!

The KUR I ordered is black... but I did hesitate a moment with the OD!

    5. My titanium version weights 142g.

  2. Is it just my eyes or does this incarnation of the Neon clone look rather cheapish compared to the older model? A simple round standoff instead of the beautifully contoured backspacer, flat handle scales instead of the rounded ones ...
And still, it comes with those annoying wavy grooves - without them it could've been at least a nice piece to mod the hell out of it. Man, and I was really excited when I first saw it reappear :-/

    1. It seems they cloned the Neon Ultra Lite this time. That version has this simpler handle design.

At least it weights much less than the previous Vespa version because of the milled handles and the lack of back spacer.

  3. And not to forget, they skipped the custom pivot and put in the standard shiro slotted screw, which is much easier to handle. That could be considered a good thing, too.

I'm not so sure about the weight saving - my 2nd gen (I think) S35VN model is about 85 g and was just a tad more before modding.

Maybe someone gets one of those ultra lights and reports back about how it feels. If I compare my Hati lookalike (backspacer, handle scales with strongly chamfered edges) with my clone of the normal F95 (no backspacer, about half a millimetre thicker, much smaller chamfers), the difference is huge (although both knives look nearly the same as far as shape goes), with the Hati feeling so much nicer.

    1. I used to have the 9Cr18MoV version of the Vespa. That version weights 101 g.

    2. Do you have some pics of your modded Neon?
And did your version come with a coarse grind?
I could use mine as a fingernail file before modding which was a pity because the grind lines were perfect but like made on a 40 grit belt.

    3. I can't really tell if the blade grind was like that on mine (before I kind of tinkered it to death ... well, it's a process, learning and all, knowing when to stop)

Next to a CH 3001 (which I wanted to have an aged&dirty look, oh well)

Both lost a bit, but really not much, material and both are close to 85 g.

  4. The Neon is amazing! And rather cheap. Good thing that I can't decide between the gold and the purple colours because I already have too many knives. :p

    1. Would be interesting to see a comparison between the Neon Ultra Light and the CH 3001. They share some similarities, at least size wise.

    2. One can never have too many knives, come on, get one! I'd go gold if I didn't already have a Vespa Neon (grey obviously) and many many more arriving continually!

    3. If someone is willing to send me a CH3001 and a Neon UltraLite I will be more than happy to compare and review them! ;))

    4. I would go for the gold or the purple too as I already have a drawer of grey titanium folders! :)

    5. Yes but for the same price I prefer buying 4 carbon fiber or wood Ganzos ;)

And I have the Piston Sukhoi D2 recently, really amazing knife!

  5. Well, if the tax advisor will be as good as my co-worker said then I'd possibly buy another folder, more likely a Mnandi. Till then I must save for wife and 2 kittle kids. Maybe I'd around Easter then it could be here be around my bd ;)

  6. My gray Jufule Neon clone arrived today and I'm very impressed. It's as well made as my other favorite knives, the Green Thorn Shiro F95 clones, and it is a better size for EDC IMHO. Flipping action is great, awesome really for such a small knife. Fit and finish on mine is excellent and it is super light weight at just under 3 oz. I immediately ordered another in blue. Thanks for the heads up on this one!

    1. Congratulations! :)
If the fit & finish of the Neon is on the same level as the Green Thorn F95 then it's a must buy. The GT F95 is one of my most sophisticated folders.
