    1. You weren't so happy with my previous shot, maybe this one applies better to your rules?
It's the Malyshev Gnome with our favourite park at a school/center for disabled children. It's really nice there esp. in summer, our kids love the pool they have ;)

Although I must admit that when the knife bug bit me I was tempted to buy one of those for that HipHop Grafitti whatever figures on it :P

    3. Sorry, when entering the giveaway, I added a remark to the picture, I thought it's public. Now I also added the same description as information to the picture.

There you are: "Enlan M022 at the Tisza. (With custom handmade birch handles.)"
The knife is actually from Gearbest. :-)
The young birch tree was my own. Until a summer storm came. :-(

Since my favorite outdoors view is not in the country I'm in right now, I put my latest acquisition from Gearbest, the Ganzo G7531-CF on top of something that brings a smile to my face every day.
Can you spot the knife? :D

    1. I adjust springs and pivots on most of my axis lock Ganzos. I brushed the CF/G10 scales a bit and changed the edge on them. They were a little too much smooth to my likings.

      Delete
    2. Good job :) I've tried to tweak the springs on mine, too, didn't change a bit, the heat treatment was good on both.
So I just ground away some material around the axis lock, removed one thumb stud, stonewashed blade+clip. I've sanded the cf with 600-800 grit paper and with a 1500 grit scotchpad, much better look and feel.
Now I'm quite satisfied, I need only one finger to release the lock (but it feels better using index and thumb).
I wish they'd add jimping in the scales and liners at the butt, too, lie above the lock are make the backspacers a bit fatter.

    3. I like your work on the scales better, I should give it another try ;). Did you use only sandpaper by hand or dremel tool?

As for the springs - you really have to overcome some point of resistence to adjust them. Sometimes I create a hotspot (no more smooth curve), but this one turned out quite well:
      http://i.imgur.com/tgBDj2k.jpg?1

Nice change removing one thumb stud, any tips how to do it properly? And what screw did you use to hold the remaining thumb stud in place?

I didn't mention that I enlarged the hole around the axis lock too. And I put some nail polish on the thumb studs. They are bit too much hard to my fingers otherwise.

I love how you can play with Ganzos because of their price :).

      Delete
    4. Hello and thank you :)

I tried to bend the Ω springs around a sharpie (fat pen) because on a G-717Y I got such a hotspot as you mentioned. After breaking in it's very smooth now so no need for bending.
Also the 753 is a much better knife to me compared to the G-717, the only other (and well made) Ganzo I played with is the G 712 (made a carbon fiber 'skull crusher' backspacer like for the BM Bedlam).

For shaping I mostly used a belt grinder on job with rotary tools attached. I'm an orthopedic shoemaker so if you see a shoe repair shop with a grinding machine than that's the simple version of the one I can use. We also have a belt grinder with a flat backplate, very nice for using raw materials to grind them to the thickness I need.

I have a thread in a German knife forum (nobody commented it though :P ) with most of my works, google translate can help with the text ;)
      www.messerforum.net/showthread.php?134922-Griffschalen-Kohlefaser-laminiertes-Leder-und-diverse-Modifikationen

I really like the 753 but after modding and playing the blade won't center anymore, never had that on an axis lock knife. If I could mod another then I'd only thin the area around the lock but leave the rest of the upper area thicker and only grind the finger grooves as I did.
