  1. I've got a cf Dr death with the patterned blade in the mail...
And I'll order the Zt 0562cf very soon, as I had my eyes on the real one (and green thorn seems to be doing great works)...

    1. The CF version of the Dr.Death is on my wishlist too, but I'm afraid I'll have to wait for a bit untill I can order it.

I have a ZT0562CF replica, it's a fine folder. Will you go for the real one?

  2. Sorry that's the bloody spell corrector... I already have the zt 0562cf (and like it much) I wanted to talk of the ZT0456...

    1. Which version of the ZT0456 will you choose?
I can't decide between the Green Thorn version (no logo, zipper case) and "OEM" version (logo, box).

  3. Is the ZT0456 frame not milled out? It looks like full slab titanium.

    1. It is a big thick slab of titanium, indeed. Heavy, but feels really super solid and compact!

  4. I've gone green thorn. Boxes usually get beaten in transportation and I don't have much need of the logos or so... Whereas the zipper case is nice for storing and protecting the knife.

  5. My CF Dr Death has arrived this morning. It's a rather impressive piece, I must say, and moving from the Tough Boy to that one made the lightness even more striking. Great polishing on the CF, too and rather interesting finish on the blade!

    1. Great!
How is the flipping action of the Dr.D.? Are those grooves/patterns on the blade deeper ones?

  6. The flipping action is not the very best ever, but it's already quite smooth even if I feel like it will improve over time. As for the patterns on the blade they are relatively deep... not a simple surface treatment. Almost as deep as some of the (light) gimping that can be found on the spine of blades.

    1. Thanks a lot for the info! :)
Which folder do you prefer this one or your Green Thorn F95?

    2. For an EDC? I'd say this one: it's way lighter and thinner, so it's easier to carry, and the blade plus polished CF scale give it a really "custom" look and feel, something really out of the ordinary.

  7. And today I received the Green Thorn ZT0456. My! this is another homerun from Green Thorn. The pouch is the same, very nice. The knife, however, is a whole other level. It's at the same time super tight, feels totally compact, and of an very good smoothness. The detent is strong but not too strong. The blade and its grinds is a piece of art, and so are the multiple anodised parts.
I'm very happy I've chosen this version, as I feel the "OEM" could only be a bit below in feel, fit and finish. This one feels even better than a genuine ZT. I'll probably soon do a "presentation/pictorial" alongside my other most recent ZT clones!

    1. That was a quite fast shipment, congratulations!
I'm still trying to resist to order it so please tell me some cons too! :))

    2. Well, it's not a light knife... and it's rather small (if that counts as a negative... ) and for me it's a 3 fingers grip. Well the pinky goes on the back.

You could also say, it's only D2, and no m390 or CPM 20CV

    3. You must have large hands if the handle is enough only for a 3 finger grip.

    4. I wear gloves in size large or XL, depending... But when I say 3 fingers, it's 3 in the main part, and the fourth is still on the handle but on the back sloping part. Not uncomfortable, but clearly not as good a grip as on, say, the Dr. Death or the ZT0452CF...
But it's small enough without being too small.... arrgh, sorry you wanted negatives ;-(

    5. Thanks, now I get what you mean.

  8. So, did you fall for a ZT0456? OEM or "naked"?

If you have managed to resist thus far, maybe you'll be interested by the cheaper G10/440c version... Looks rather awesome I might say!

    1. I'm still resisting! :)
I think I'll end up buying one of the G10 versions (black or jade).

I've got tempted by this large Regular Sebenza. The overall fit and finish looks outstanding especially the details at the back of the handle.

    2. I don't know. I fell for a sebenza clone (a small kevin john) sometimes ago and it's really not one of the knives I end up using the most. There's hype, there's legend, but in the end other designs are just more fun/useable/fit better in hand.

The ZT0456 on the other hand is great fun and the Green Thorn version hasn't left my pocket since I got it!!!
